Photo's

With the anti tank and main battery taken it was time for lunch

Forming up to march ( well orderly shamble) to the next objective

Didn't manage to take many pictures during the CQB stage, it was all a bit hectic.

That you very much AGS, another fabulous game and particularly for the huge effort with the props. The banging guns were very atmospheric. Not much to add to the comments above, both sides played well within a platoon/section structure and the battle ebbed and flowed constantly. Fantastic effort on the kit, particularly the sea of Feldgrau Germans.

The mortars made a huge difference to game as they really did operate as artillery for each side when things got sticky. 200 rounds per life worked really well (again), like some other people I also ran out of ammo at one point and doing ammo runs added to teh authentcity. The other thing which worked really well was 'anything which goes bang (including smoke) killing' as it cleared up a lot of confusion you sometimes get with thermobaric mortar rounds.

Many thanks to my Soviet comrades, apologies to 1 section that we never got the phone working and thank you to 2 section for taking me on once our HQ was overrun!

Will post pics once 've sorted through them.

Cheers
Martin

This was my first AGS game and I loved it! The kit levels were superb! The consistency among the germans was spot on. Lying in the little ravine I was defending only to be lit up like a christmas tree with mp fire and then over run by a schwadron of heer was soooo cool (even when dying in my own blood). Loved those massed attacks which the russians did so well repulsing and retaking when needed. The tight squad control meant no one even needed to "lonewolf" and I never saw it happen once. The motar fire was extremely accurate from both sides and it was used far more effectively than in any other game I've played. Enjoyed some highly satisfying sniping with Lardy's K98 (thanks for the loan mate). And was on the receiving end once or twice too. The site was awesome and was superb for the scenario. Highlight was the visual spectacle of the Germans attcking en masse in their heer kit (it was so immersive), getting into the tower, having a grenade land 1ft away and kicking away just in time to save myself (then being riddled from a dozen krauts) and the over all game play! Thanks again to one and all and I can't wait til next 1. Well done chaps

An excellent day for all, well worth all the effort that we put into it. Highlights for me were when the Germans put their final attack onto the gun emplacement, being off to the side and getting a few kills before being hit myself and then watching the entire squad move up. I knew I wasn't going to get medic help so just sat back took a few snaps and enjoyed watching everyone in Feldgrau working as a unit. I think it really looks so authentic without the camo, I applaud you guys with the effort you made with your kit. Best bit of the day for me was the final defence of the buildings (CQB is my thing) the Axis couldn't get us out of that building and had to resort to heavy artillary, which I was happy with.
Here's a selection of the pics that I got

Wow, pic of the day, for me - even the far background buildings look authentic. :good:

Best bit: Leading a suicide charge waving a big flag
Worst bit: Having to repo our regen point again and again and again
Funniest bit: Getting shot in the back of the head by a sniper whilst in the middle of a strategy meeting with the NKVD

also i like to add the 200 rounds per life make a hell of a differance :good: really like the ammo limits
it really makes you think about your ammo alot during the game

Agreed, there were several times during the game I had to abandon a good position because I ran out of ammo. I think it was one of the factors that helped to make sure the game didnt bog down.

agreed agreed! a couple of times i had taken a position in a good push forwards but had to call a halt to it for lack of ammo!

I had a great time, Friday night was fun if chilly, the game was excellent. It seemed to get better as in more fun as the day progressed. Tanaka was iffy in the cold but it didnt spoil my enjoyment.

OK where to start.
Big thankyou to AGS for all the effort behind the scenes, I know how hard it is to find time to make things to enhance the game play. The props as always make it for me which is what makes AGS games stand out against all the others, top notch and was amazed after getting killed many times eventually making it to the top of the ridge to find a Bl**dy great big gun turret there

Great kit by all, my first game up against the Ruskies your kit was great, Great enthusiasm by all even though it was freezing, No cheating as is always with AGS games, love the 200 rd limit spot on :good: must endorse the look of the Field Grey efficient machine moving as one up the hillside, well until a Russian Mortar took out the entire Zug in one shot, Good Shooting :D

Best bits all of it :good:
Worst bits Getting blown to bits by Bosh with a bloody breat banger which was Ruskie artillery when we were all in a great position around the Gun turret.

All in all Great game can`t fault it. Nice to meet new faces as well as old ones, sorry to hear it took ages to get back up North (45 mins for me to get home ) but the support of you guys give always welcome :good:

Roll on the next ASG game heerrhmmm When will that be?????????-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

The only real inconvenience was going back home.
The taxi company refused to pick both me and Rute up and we had to walk for almost one hour to the train station.

That's annoying. I actually saw you both walking out of the main gate and wondered what was up. In hindsight you should have just asked one of us for a lift to the station.

Outstanding! Had a fantastic day, thanks to you all. Love the squad system as we stuck to it and I felt it added structure to our attacks and made it feel like we were trying to achieve something rather than just running about shooting things.
The tanaka was a little unreliable in the cold, but that still didn't spoil it for me and I'm glad I used it rather than the MP40 I took for backup. Rifles rock! :happyswing:
Thanks again gents. See you all next time.

Excellent event, thanks to all involved in putting it on.

I don't know who built the turret but it was really superb.

As usual it looks like the Germans were more interested in posing for photos than attacking - no wonder we gave them such a bloody nose every time......oh hold on, actually they hammered us backward all day. Well done chaps, we know all too well how hard it is attacking all day.

That's the last outing for our ppsh's though. Hopeless non-feeding mags. We were both shooting air for most of the afternoon. Back to rifles for us.

My first ASG game and it was fantastic. Great game, detail and effort by you ASG boys. Really good day, thanks to all. :good:
The best bits for me personnally were the fighting through the pipe yard, then falling back into the buildings and defending a doorway with just my Kar98 and the big charge with my 1st squad and part of another squad (sorry guys can't remeber who it was :slap: ) to take back the gun turret (which was mind blowing).
Looking forward to another game with you guys soon :happydance: .
Thanks also to Josh for the use of the kit and him bringing down the AT field guns etc even though the poor fella was sick as a dog and couldn't stay and play. Hope your feeling better soon.
Thanks again to all involed.

Lovely game chaps, still recovering.

best bit? I think where we almost shot the NKVD :giggle:

it was near the end, the Germans were closing in on all sides through the industrial area and panic was beginning to set in, people were being shot at under the flag and we moved it a little further back. We looked around and there was no command left. The commissar was dying (probably valiantly) in a building cut off by Germans, and at least half our defenders were reduced to just making noise at the Germans. So I turned to Dean and said 'Sgt, you are the highest ranking officer left in Sevastapol, what should we do?' the reply was, quick and obvious - 'Retreat'.

So we grabbed the flag and legged it back towards the final building. Round a corner we careen to find Jimbo walking towards us. Dean instictively raises his rifle and, for a second, that look flashes across his eyes...

Thankfully the NKVD agreed with our tactical move - so long as we called it bravery and not cowardice - and congratulated us.

If the NKVD had given another order? Well, I guess we will never know what would have happened.

An absolutely fantastic event in every way.

I have never been so exhausted after a game; the action (and climbing hills) was relentless. Eventhough I started the day with over 2000 bbs, I had completely run out about 15 minutes before endex; my speedloader has been binned :)

Thanks to AGS for the work in organising and running the event and to every player for contributing to such a great day, and social

Also thanks to Josh for still delivering the kit eventhough he was, and still is, very ill

RETIRED, thanks for some truly memorable times and great people

Did anybody come across a green demo bag with some VSR mags a vitalite box and some dressings in it, I think I may have left it in the room we watched the movie in.
Cheers guys.
